Gentle Beginner:
 
This beginning yoga class covers breathing techniques and basic yoga postures.  You will become more in tune with your body, as you strengthen and tone. Additionally, through focus and relaxation you will improve your breath awareness and control.


Beginner :
This class expands upon the Beginners’ class, offers in-depth instruction in the basic postures and simple flowing movements.  In this class, poses can be sustained for longer periods of time or may move more quickly; modifications are always offered. Your awareness of your breath and body will increase. Your strength and balance will improve as your chronic tension releases.


Advanced Beginner :
For the advanced beginner, this class offers more in-depth instruction in the basic postures.  It also introduces more advanced postures with detailed instructions for those who are ready for a personal challenge. In this class, poses can be sustained for longer periods of time or may move more quickly.


Intermediate:
This class combines basic and advanced yoga postures with the broader concepts behind yoga and in-depth instructions for challenging poses.  This class is geared toward those who seek to make yoga an integral part of their lives.  It requires the strength and stamina of daily practice.  

Meditation and Yoga:
 Please join Martha and Steve for an evening of Mediation and Gentle yoga. The class will begin with 10 minutes centering in silence with a guided meditation followed by 30 minutes of gentle yoga and cultivating breath awareness. Closing the class with 20 minutes of seated mediation. This class is open to introductory students and seasoned practitioners alike. Donations accepted at the door. Class begins 1/16~ ongoing.





Teachers at Anam Cara studio have been fundamentally trained in Iyengar style yoga. It is a form of Hatha yoga  known for its use of props, such as belts, blocks, and blankets, as aids in performing asanas (postures). The props enable students to perform the asana correctly, minimizing the risk of injury or strain, and making the postures accessible to both young and old. The development of strength, mobility, and stability are emphasized through the asana.

  This yoga focuses on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas. Through the practice of a system of asanas, it aims to unite the body, mind and spirit for health and well-being. This discipline is considered a powerful tool to relieve the stresses of modern-day life which in turn can help promote total physical and spiritual well-being.

 Although much of our background in training is similar. Our expression of yoga is different with us all. Like any pose on any given day can have different depth and flexibility. Please feel free to check out different instructors and classes as we practice on this journey together.
